Promon Opens Branch Office in Belo Horizonte
Release: 01/29/2009

Present in other state capitals, company expands activities in Minas Gerais State to be closer to clients and develop new business opportunities

Promon Engenharia has announced the opening of a new branch office in Belo Horizonte (MG) on January 29, 2009. The initiative is part of the company’s strategy of having offices in locations that are important for its growth. A Brazilian company and a subsidiary of the Promon Group, Promon Engenharia specializes in consultant engineering and the development of projects involving the design, integration and implementation of infrastructure solutions for key sectors of the economy.
The new branch office, located in the Funcionários neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, will start operating with a staff of about twenty professionals, expected to rise to forty during the course of 2009. Further growth will depend on the economic situation. “Promon Engenharia plans to implement its innovative management model, processes and culture in the new facility. After all, this model has led to our being recognized as one of the best engineering firms in Brazil,” said Gilson Krause, CEO of Promon Engenharia. “We have already begun hiring. We want to attract excellent professionals from the region into our community, always with the prime goal of satisfying our clients and respecting their values. Our priority is to hire specialists in basic and detailed engineering.”
The new branch office will enable the company to expand the resources available for all the industries in which it has clients, especially mining and steel. “The decision to open an office in Minas Gerais was taken before the outbreak of the global crisis in the second half of 2008. Studies were conducted at the end of last year and the decision was maintained on the basis of medium- and long-term scenarios established by the company for the evolution of these markets in Brazil,” Krause said.
Minas Gerais is a state with huge deposits of mineral ore, major mining companies, and large corporations that require related services. Promon Engenharia has operated in these segments since the 1960s. Management has always kept a watchful eye on market shifts and in the 1990s began focusing more on oil, electricity and telecommunications. “Mining and steel have resumed vigorous growth in recent years, however, and today these sectors account for a significant proportion of our portfolio,” Krause explained. “That’s why the new office is strategic for Promon. It will enable us to work more closely with clients, pursue new local business opportunities, and attract local talent.”
