10/30/2007
Promon has won the 2007 National Quality Award (PNQ), the most important recognition of management excellence for business organizations in Brazil. Promon consistently applies for the award, made annually by the National Quality Foundation (FNQ), because it knows that participation in the process is a means of motivating continuous improvements in management and thus enhancing the company’s competitiveness.
The pursuit of excellence has been a driving force for Promon throughout its 47-year history. This determination to strive for continuous improvements to management practices and thereby to attain ever-higher performance standards led Promon in the 1990s to adopt the systemic model of management excellence recommended by Brazil’s National Quality Foundation (FNQ). “Excellence is a constant goal for Promon. It is never fully accomplished because the road to improvement in everything the organization does has no final destination,” says CEO Luiz Ernesto Gemignani.
Adoption of the model has brought important benefits, especially in the enhancement of management practices. “The results are strongly associated with our commitment to excellence in every activity and at every level, both strategically and in management and operating practices,” says Gemignani.
Four other companies won the award this year. The announcement was made on October 30 at a press conference organized by the FNQ. Fifty-eight companies applied for the award in this 16th edition, compared with an average of 30 in previous years. The award ceremony takes place on November 26, with Brazil’s top business leaders and senior government officials in attendance.
