Besides expertise in managing and implementing infrastructure solutions for the oil & gas industry, Promon also offers a solution for process automation control in hostile environments
Promon, ranked Company of the Decade by the 2006 Exame Você S.A. Guide to the 150 Best Places to Work in Brazil and a leader in the design, integration and implementation of infrastructure solutions for key sectors of the economy, is participating in the 2006 edition of the Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference, Latin America’s foremost event for the oil & gas industry, at the Rio de Janeiro Convention Center (Riocentro) on September 11-14.
The event represents yet another opportunity for Promon to showcase its competencies in plant design for the oil & gas industry and for other segments such as thermal power generation. Since its foundation in 1960 Promon has accumulated a wealth of expertise in these areas and is technically equipped to deliver solutions for every link in the supply chain. Promon designs and implements production facilities, storage terminals, natural gas refining and processing plants, citygates, and thermoelectric power plants.
Recognition of Promon’s excellence in service provision and project management has come in the form of many awards, including an Honorable Mention from Petrobras’s E&P Project Development & Execution Program (PRODEP) for project management best practices in construction and assembly of the North Capixaba Terminal (TNC).
Promon also develops integrated solutions in information and communications technology (ICT), encompassing all stages of a project from conception to systems integration and associated procurement, such as implementation of voice-over-IP networks, backbones and information security systems, and delivery of operation, support and maintenance services. At Rio Oil & Gas, Promon’s booth displays innovative solutions for communications and process automation especially suited to the hostile environments frequently found in oilfields and refineries.
In partnership with Cisco Systems and Rockwell Automation, Promon offers an Ethernet to the Factory (EttF) solution as the basis for implementing intelligent communications services for process automation and control. A typical application of this solution uses information collected by programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to call a service technician automatically to the site of an event occurrence. With Cisco’s IP telephony infrastructure, which also supports video, the technician has every condition to make decisions and take action directly while on site.
The solution also enables mobility via Nokia Eseries smartphones, which operate as IP phones whenever users are within coverage of the corporate network. Outside that area they work just like any standard GSM mobile.
Promon is a Gold Partner of Cisco Systems and won a Cisco award for best Latin American integrator in 2005. In 2006, Promon was recognized by IDG for its outstanding performance in network consulting, security consulting, and security implementation.
