Promon awarded BS 7799 Information Security Certification

Promon Tecnologia and Promon Engenharia have just been awarded certification under BS 7799, the global information security standard issued by BSI, the British Standards Institution. This comprehensive specification defines requirements for establishing, implementing, and documenting an effective information security management system. It is the most important and globally recognized information security standard and Promon is one of the first Brazilian companies to win certification.

“The knowledge acquired in the process that led to certification has also helped strengthen Promon Tecnologia’s offering,” says Rodrigo Parreira, executive director of Promon Tecnologia. “Promon offers clients a comprehensive range of information security management services, from consulting to implementation of ISM solutions in the context of their IT and telecommunications platforms. BS 7799 certification is of vital importance to strengthen Promon’s ISM offering and has synergies with other items in the portfolio of solutions we currently offer the market, especially those relating to IT processes and infrastructure.”

Promon prepared for certification by carrying out a painstaking and comprehensive in-house project to enhance its own ISM systems, including awareness raising campaigns throughout the organization, an asset inventory, risk assessment, and process improvement. “Implementation of the key concepts specified by BS 7799 was crucial in reviewing our work processes and enabling us to detect vulnerabilities so that we could focus on risk reduction,” says Rodrigo Suzuki, information security coordinator at Promon Tecnologia and one of the professionals responsible for the certification process.

Certification proves that Promon has the processes and technologies to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its own information and that of its clients, and to protect all such information from external and internal threats.
