Promon Engenharia has received an Honorable Mention from Petrobras’s E&P Project Development & Execution Program (PRODEP) in recognition of best practices in project management for construction and assembly of the North-Capixaba Terminal (TNC).
Promon’s award was based on its score against items in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK), a set of guidelines issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The prize-giving ceremony, held in Rio de Janeiro, was attended by top executives of Petrobras. The North-Capixaba Terminal project managed by Promon for Petrobras involved construction of a terminal for storage of heavy and light oil. The heavy oil is produced at onshore wells in the state of Espírito Santo, treated at the Fazenda Alegre processing facility, and transported by pipeline to the TNC terminal.
The TNC terminal is located in the city of São Mateus, about 250 km from the state capital, Vitória. The total area of the terminal site is approximately 95,000 square meters. It is close to an important sea turtle nesting beach and crossed by the Barra Nova River with mangrove forest in an environmental conservation area. To avoid interference with turtle nesting and protect the natural environment, Petrobras required special care with implementation of the project. Promon met all such requirements, including a special project for illumination of the terminal to ensure the turtles are not frightened away by excessively bright lights.
